Duas to Recite During Ramadan

Team BookMyUmrahTrip
Honestly? Ramadan just hits different.
The days are long, yeah. You may feel hungry and thirsty. You might get cranky around 4 PM. But the nights? Man, the nights are something else. There's this quiet that settles everything. The house becomes still, and the streets are calm. And for a few hours, there will be none but you and Allah.
We get so caught up in the logistics. What's for iftar? How many hours are left? Did I order enough Samosas? that sometimes we forget why we're even here. But the real benefits of Ramadan are in the conversation you have with Allah when no one else is listening. That’s dua.
If you feel that you don’t know what to ask for. I’ve put together some of the Ramadan duas with meaning. It will help you to find the right words at the right moments. Think of this as you go to the Ramadan dua list.
Why Making Dua in Ramadan Is So Powerful
You know the moment when you're really, really thirsty? Like, parched. And someone hands you a glass of cold water, and you take that first sip? That feeling of "finally."
That's kind of what dua in Ramadan feels like. Except you're not just thirsty for water. You're thirsty for something deep.
When you're fasting, something happens to you. You're not your usual self. You will be soft. The armor comes down. And it is mentioned in Hadith that, before Iftar time, in that state, you can't realize how close Allah will be to you. Your duas will become a direct line. No waiting. No busy signal.
Best Duas to Recite During Ramadan
Duas are the one of means to talk to Allah. So, talk to Allah in your own words. And whatever comes out when you're emotional. He gets it. He gets you.
Duas that the Prophet (ﷺ) taught us are different. They're short, yeah. But somehow they cover everything. Here are some of the best duas for Ramadan:
1. The One That Covers Everything.
This dua is old. Everyone knows it.
Arabic:

Transliteration: Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah wa fil-akhirati hasanah wa qina 'adhaban-nar.
Meaning: "Our Lord, give us good in this world, good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."
It's simple. But it's everything. Good in this life whatever that looks like for you. Good in the next life the one that actually matters.
2.Dua to reach Lailatul Qadr:

اللهم بلغني ليلة القدر
Transliteration: "Allahumma baligni Lailatul Qadar"

The Intention for Fasting
There is no need to say this out loudly. It's between you and Allah. But if words help you focus, this one's beautiful:

The Iftar Dua
This dua chills everyone. Break your fast, by saying "Bismillah," and eat dates. Drink water and recite this dua.
In Arabic
ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الْأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّه
Transliteration

Meaning: "The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is certain, if Allah wills."
Daily Ramadan Duas for Forgiveness and Mercy
We all have stuff. Things we're not proud of. Regrets from last year. Mistakes from last week. Maybe something from this morning.
There’s something about being hungry that just… breaks you open. You know?
It’s not random. It’s not just "emotions." It’s the month doing what it does. It’s the blessing seeping in through the cracks.
Here's a little guide to help you pour your heart out during each phase of the month. Let the words be your own.
The First 10 Days: The first Ashra of mercy to soften you (Rahmah)
These are the days when you’re settling in. This is the time to ask for the mercy of Allah. Open your hands and let Allah fill them.
The Dua of this first Ashra:
Transliteration: "Rabbi ighfir warham wa anta khayrur raahimeen."
My Lord, forgive me and have mercy on me. You are the best of those who show mercy.
Meaning: "Ya Allah, I made it. I’m here. Please, just accept this Umrah from someone as small as me.
Wrap my family and me in Your mercy. The kind of mercy that we can feel in our bones.
Give me real repentance. Not just words. Change my heart. Make it soft, like it is right now, forever.
The Middle 10 Days: The Real Work Begins (Maghfirah)
The excitement has worn off. It’s a grind. This is the time of asking for Maghfirah.
The Dua of the second Ashra:
Transliteration: Astaghfirullaha Rabbi min kulli dhambin wa atubu ilayh.
Meaning: I seek forgiveness from Allah, my Lord, for every single sin, and I turn back to Him.
Ya Allah, forgive me. For the things I did on purpose. And the things I didn’t even notice. For the times I was prideful. At times I was angry. For the times I knew better and did it anyway.
Scrub my heart clean.
The Last 10 Days: Desperate for Salvation (Nijat)
The end is near. You don’t want to let go of this blessed month. The only thing on your mind is to be saved from your own bad habits and to be saved from a bad end. And also to be saved from the Fire.
The Dua of this Ashra:
Dua:
اللهم أجرني من النار
Transliteration: "Allahumma ajirni min an-naar."
Meaning:O Allah, protect me from the Hellfire.
And the one from the Ramadan dua list, we whisper over and over on those blessed nights of Qadr:
Dua:
اللهم إنك عفو تحب العفو فاعف عني
"Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa‘fu ‘anni."
O Allah, You are the One who pardons greatly, and You love to pardon, so pardon me.
"Ya Allah, I beg You. Save me. Save me from the fire and from everything that leads to it.
And Ya Allah, you’re generous; grant me Jannah by Your mercy. Let me enter without a painful reckoning. Let it be pure grace."
You can say it once or a hundred times. You can whisper it while you're at work or lying on bed. This is the dua that will sink into your soul.
Duas for Laylat al Qadr
When the last ten nights come. You will be busy. And everyone tries to squeeze in a little more. Offer a few extra nafil rakats. And recite a few more pages of the Quran. And somewhere in those nights there is one special night. A night of Qadar that's better than a thousand months.
A thousand months. The blessings of this night can't be imagined by us. This is the dua to be recited in the night of Lailatul Qadr.
Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Transliteration: Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu 'anni.
Meaning: "O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me."
This is the prayer that you’ll make on these nights. But don’t stop there. Lay it all out to Allah.
Recall your parents close in your prayers they have carried you before you have carried yourself.
Lift up your kids, and your family.
Remember our people in Gaza and in Sudan. The ummah are being hurt in places we can’t reach, and their tears we can’t wipe.
So, try to pour your heart out, because everything depends on Him.
Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as'alukal 'aafiyah fid-dunya wal-akhirah.
Meaning: "O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter."
This is the night to bring out your longest and most emotional Ramadan dua list. Let it all out. He's listening.

Allah is enough for us, and He's the best one to rely on.

Tips to Make Your Duas More Effective During Ramadan
So you've got the words. Now how do you make them land?
Start your dua by
Glorify Allah (S.W.T).
Send blessings on the Prophet (S.A.W).
Ask forgiveness.
Then ask.
Mean what you say. If you rush through transliteration to check a box, stop. Slow down. Even one dua with focus is better than a hundred.
Hit the right moments:
Ask for others. Make dua for others . Without knowing them for others, when you pray the angels say "Ameen, for you too." It's a cheat code. Use it.
